With limited funds and unlimited opinions regarding the placement of our first set of cameras, the Working Group approached Beagle Security Company to provide expert advice on the vulnerable access points into our neighbourhood and other strategic points that would benefit from camera placement.
Based on their input, the upfront contributions committed to in the survey and a lot of discussion, it was decided to install 9 cameras and link 2 more street-facing cameras from a private residence into a network of 11 cameras.
All 11 cameras will be connected to Beagle's Security room for active monitoring.
Here is the map of the location of cameras for phase 1.

Comments on the placement of cameras.
The road entering our community from the Hillcrest/Conrad intersection is a significant access (and getaway) point for vehicles.
Easy pedestrian access is by way of Wendy Avenue from the spruit.
Access is also possible from the cul-de-sac at the end of Hillcrest as well as into individual properties which border the parkland of the spruit.
Regardless of point of entry, it is also important to monitor movement within the streets, although this is less of vulnerability point and more of a fairness point.
The monitoring ability with the Beagle control room is extensive, and each camera will be set up based on its specific location (i.e., road-facing cameras will be positioned to get the clearest capture of licence plates, spruit-facing cameras will be positioned for furthest line-of-sight, etc.)
It is the intention of the Working Group and the NPC to expand the footprint of our camera network, by signing up additional houses in our streets and applying their contributions to set up and additional monitoring costs.
